So why are there only places where you can "buy" a car? Why have reverse purchase sites never taken off? i.e.

- I want a particular car
- I post an advert saying I want this car
- potential sellers come to me

Maybe it's an idea I should pitch on dragons den.

Anyway if anyone wants to sell me their's I am in the market for a 718 Boxster and have around £30,000 burning a hole in my pocket.

Must have's

- less than 50k miles
- full service history (OPC, even better)
- PDK
- No accident repaired
- Leather not alcantara

Nice to have's

- sport exhaust
- 20' wheels

Any other extra's are a bonus.

Because you'd be in a seller's market.

Facebook / Owner forums are pretty good ways to do this.

When I wanted a Mustang I just joined an owners club on facebook and put a post up saying what I was looking for.

Why are you so lazy? There are numerous sites with cars for sale, forums with cars for sale, OPC with cars for sale, social media with cars for sale. You can’t be bothered so you want folk to do the work for you. Come on man, get out there and look - the looking is part of the fun.

If it's that easy - maybe you could do it for me smile

100% laziness and arrogance.

You can even use ChatGPT to do this for you and aggregate all sites now.

If you don't like AI, then setup a filter on PH, save it with alerts. Setup a filter on Autotrader, save it with alerts. Search the Porsche used website, save the search.

Of course I know how to set up filters and alerts - the purpose of a wanted ad is to find those who might think about selling but haven't advertised their car.

Isn't that the point?

Tell me the prompt I would use for AI to find that

Seller's dream if this existed.

Always thought it would be a good idea as well to have a site where you can advertise a bit in advance - along the lines of I'm planning in selling this in XX months"

When you've got cars on finance, you pretty much know when you will be looking for the next one

Personally, I’m not a fan of those “wanted”, beauty parade type of posts. You get a lot on Facebook and because it’s a buyers market out there, posters respond with pics and detailed specs hoping to reel the “buyer” in. Rarely do they go anywhere, because it’s the wrong colour, it doesn’t have the right seats, wheels, mileage, service history - a waste of time to be honest.

Decide what you want; specs etc and by all means put feelers out there. But the best way to buy and research is getting your boots on the ground and poking stuff, kicking tyres, listening to enthusiastic sales people, owners even.
