Pension carry forward & higher income child benefit
Discussion
Hi all,
I’m likely to use last few years carry forward allowances this year to top up pension and maximise higher rate tax relief. One available year matched the maximum threshold for child benefit earnings limit and so the full benefits had to be paid all back.
I’ve searched and can’t find any guidance which states if that charge would be retrospectively refunded where I make carry forward contributions, so that I return to the bottom of the earning threshold.
Is this something I would find on the self assessment form, hmrc would recognise and apply on review for tax relief application? If does retrospective refunds not apply (which would seem odd aligned to the tax relief)
