Ortesei / Alpe Di Siusi
Discussion
Thinking about spending 5 nights here in February and skiing in Alpe di Siusi. Has anyone been?
The town itself looks spot on, but the piste map makes the ski area look a muddle.
I need mellow skiing as I’m rebuilding my confidence, plus I’ll have a few first-timers in tow. Seiser Alm looks perfect especially runs like Panorama, but I can’t quite figure out how to reach it from Ortisei as the gondola from town doesn’t seem to link directly.
Any first-hand tips would be hugely appreciated.

You are correct. Ortisei and Alpe di Siusi are not connected directly although you can reach it with a few runs and a weird 2 seater chair lift.
Rather than staying in Ortisei, you could also consider staying within the Alpe di Siusi area. Hotel Saltria has always been a favourite for my family but it is litterally in the middle of nowhere with only chairlifts around. There are many hotels in Compatch, which is the centre of Alpe di Siusi but you should also check out Castelrotto or Siusi which are a the bottom of the valley. There is a cable car from Siusi straight to Compach.
