How to install LED strip lighting in bedroom?
Discussion
My son wants LED strip lighting around the ceiling in his bedroom. Its easy to install, but what i'm struggling to get my head around is how to install it so that it ONLY lights up adjacent to the coving i.e not lighting up between the power socket which is by the skirting and up the wall to the ceiling.
As far as I can figure out I have two options (if there are others please let me know!!)
1. As shown below, run an extension lead up the inside of the wardrobe (there is a socket at the bottom of the wardrobe), and then drill through the side of the wardrobe so I can plug in the AC adapter inside the wardrobe and then run the power cable through to the wall on the outside.
2. Cut and extend the AC adapter power cable and run it up the wall.

Depends what you're getting, but I recently put some Ikea (Mittled I think) LED strips with a Tradfri driver under the kitchen units it it came with about 3 miles of cable, but the driver, power supply and spare cable could all be hidden behind the units, that might be an issue for your install. They also do a flexible strip version but it's more individual LEDs than a continuous strip. The thing I like about the Ikea ones is they're Tradfri so can be linked to thier remote switches rather than needing to turn the socket off.

If you check how many pin the LED strip is (most RBB ones are 4 pin) you can get extension cables for a few pounds from Amazon or Ebay.
You can also get coving with built in channels for LED's if you want a really flush look or use a dado rail with the LEDs pointing upwards.
An LED extension cable looks like a promising idea, this is the plug + socket I'm dealing with. I assume I'll cut the socket and get a LED connecter? You can also get coving with built in channels for LED's if you want a really flush look or use a dado rail with the LEDs pointing upwards.
or similarly an extension cable to for the power (see below), will this work?

If that's whats on the end of the black power block's cable (barrel connector), then yes, otherwise, no.or similarly an extension cable to for the power (see below), will this work?

that 4 core cable you see on the reel? You cut that and extend it normally, but, chekc what's on the end of the power block and go from there as the easier option.
