Picked up a nasty cold/manflu over last few days

Feel desperately rotten. This morning i coughed up bright red blood - but not since.

Saw doc and on antibiotics and a chest xray tomorrow. Doc says likely nothing.

Anyone else had similar?
In my book, coughing up bright red blood is a sign of the grim reaper

I have currently got something similar.

I had covid for the first time in October then went on sociable holiday and came back to the most horrendous lurgy a few days' later.

Talk about a mucus factory. I've have never coughed and snorted so much gunk. Thankfully the blood stopped after a few days and wasn't a huge amount.

It's not covid as I have tested.

I have decided to be a hermit for the rest of the winter.

I have asthma so colds often leave me coughing up a lot of phlegm from my lungs. I’ve had flecks/streaks of blood plenty of times, just from coughing hard and (presumably) bursting some little blood vessels or causing minor tears somewhere. I would not worry about that although it’s disconcerting first time you see it; for the reason you state!

Keep an eye on it. I was coughing up blood last year after a cough. Called 111 who said to get back in touch in a week if it hadn’t stopped. Turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. I was very lucky it didn’t do more damage than it did.
