Another chance discovery. If you store your nearly empty Marmite jar on its side, all the gooey salty goodness is much easier to get out. lick

That's why there are small flat spots on each side of the jar.

On a side note (!) I recently bought a jar of Marmite XO, and I can't taste the difference.

My jar of Bovril expired two years ago and I'm still using it. I don't use it for drinks or stock, I occasionally enjoy a smattering on toast.

Wish the Marmite with a bit of spice in it would come back

Best tip - Marmite spread on a bacon sandwich for that double saltiness hit.

Add to mushrooms with a star anis with the butter if frying.

This arrived today. Runnier than marmite, but definite marmite flavour, and certainly some spicy kick. Love it

The only tip you need to know with marmite is to pick the jar up and throw it straight in the bin, don't even open it.
