Contemplating painting my block paving. They are approx 8 years old but look faded and washed our. There is specific paving paint but unsure if this is just overpriced snake oil.

Current on the shopping list are..

Zinser outdoor satin
Dulux trade masonry paint

I'm going to try a few bricks first. I don't want the garage floor type paint look.

Any advice please.

IMO terrible idea.

Even if you get it ok on paint, what will happen next summer when you park a car with hot tyres on a hot day? If it gets lifted and goes patchy jt'll look well rough!

Try a sealer on the block paving first, it might lift the colour out.

My neighbour had trouble selling his house so decided to funk it up by having his dullish red paviers painted grey. I was skeptical but 4 years later it still looks ok after the new neighbours have being using it for a range of vehicles including a Range Rover. No idea what the product was that was used to paint them, but there must be something out there that does the job. I doubt it’s something you can get in a local paint merchants, however.

You need a stain rather than a paint.

I’ve successfully used this on some slabs

I’ve seen some good results on YouTube too, but it looks a little bit false if that makes sense.

I also think it sounds like a terrible idea. Paint will wear quickly and could lift in heat or with any oil or solvent spills and I reckon stain would look patchy.

Usually pressure washing will brighten up block paving.
