Hi all,

I am currently mid-project rebuilding a TVR Chimaera. The current state is that the chassis is rebuilt and on wheels, but the body shell is not ready to go back on to the chassis.

I have the opportunity to move house, away from an area that I am desperate to get away from, but obviously the project is difficult to transport.

Is anyone aware of any companies that will be able to transport part completed projects? The chassis is on its wheels, so easy to move. The body either needs to be lifted (either crane or 4 big blokes) or I could easily fabricate a trolley to wheel it (currently on bricks and wood).

Alternatively, if any PHers that are in the Reading/Wokingham area have a trailer and hitch, I would be happy to pay for their help to move my project to near Newbury.

Any help/advice offered greatly appreciated.

Plenty recovery individuals / agents would do that sort of thing for a few quid? Or hire Luton van and enlist some mates? Or hire a car trailer?

I m in the process of moving, me and my sons, Tuscan challenge project from my house to his new house.

I ve opted to temporary fit the engine, box , diff into the chassis and temporarily put the body on the rolling chassis.

When it s relocated we will take it all apart again, we figured it would be easier to do this than do multiple trips with the individual components.

I've a Discovery 4 and tow hitch, if you can organise a suitable trailer I'd be happy to help, just a beer or two to cover the fuel cost... you'd probably still need the 4 big blokes to do the heavy lifting!

Chim bodies aren't that heavy. It depends whether you have any sort of frame, straps or just a few of pieces of wood. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I used to call the local scrap collector as he would move cars around my town for me for £40 per trip. He sold the business to another guy who's charging £100 for the same.
So went to a trailer sales yard near my house and talked to the owner, hired their own car transporter trailer for £50/day which is currently the cheapest option. It will take 2500kg and has a winch for 6t on the front.

I've been looking at cheap 2nd hand transport trailers but I need it so rarely it's not worth losing the storage space never mind purchase price.
