Hello all,

I am starting a new job which has a business casual dress code. I already have a selection of shirts, jumpers, blazers, etc. but getting stuck on trousers...

Should I be looking at chinos, or should I be looking at smart trousers (e.g. wool trousers)?

I have a budget of about £400 for maybe four pairs if that's realistic?

Ideally regular fit as I have thunder thighs, so slim looks like skinny trousers on my thighs.

I looked at M&S and didn't really like the quality. Same with Charles Tyrwhitt.

Where else should I be looking?

I used to get my work-wear chinos from Gant and Timberland. Factory Outlets usually a good bet

Take a look at Spoke. You can select different fits. Chinos are fine for business casual.

Spoke or Asphalte.

Timing is key with Asphalte as you normally have to join the buy group for an item, but they have a stock sale coming up.

I would probably go with chinos in that situation

Am I the only one that has found the quality of spoke to be poor? the first pair i bought the fasteners were broken in the box and the second pair i tried later they broke after two washes.

I used to go with Chinos, mostly black or Navy (in fact I have a black pair on now with Tee shirt n trainers.. Have a look in Zara. they do various styles so you should find the ones you want, the quality is pretty good and prices too

I'm glad I've never had a job where chinos were required

They weren’t required. Many people wore shorts
