I have a 13 pro which I like, the screen is quite badly cracked and battery now going a bit weak. I was going to buy a new 17 as the new screen and battery from apple is exorbitantly priced.

I’m a bit of a snob so have never had a non-genuine screen or battery.

But I’m now reconsidering; has anyone had non genuine replacements and think they’re ok? I don’t want to change them myself so I guess would be one of those little phone shop / counter places that are everywhere.

I've had a non-genuine screen, and regretted it. It's not as responsive or sharp.

I had a cheap screen. It was horribly polarised, and looked noticeably inferior.
It did the job for 3 months before the updated phone was released.

I had an iphone 13 "repaired" by an insurance company with a non-genuine screen and it turned it into a turd overnight. Was awful and when I traded it in which was almost immediately I was given a much lower figure for it. Dont do it.

Yeah so it’s either £375 for new screen + battery or £800 for a 17. Not sure what to do so I’ll probably do nothing!

I had non-Apple repairs to my children's iPhones. They were always substandard. Only authorised repairer repairs were any good.

I bought an iphone SE with a non-original battery replacement for ioutlet near Plymouth.
For what I paid, I've been very pleased.

If you break a lot of screens, maybe get some disposable kungpo android thing from ebay?

I dropped it when videoing fixing my car; and then later dropped a tool onto it, when videoing fixing my car!

I had a replacement screen on my old SE, was never the same afterwards.

Apples price was extortionate though!

I’d trade it in as is or go for a genuine repair. I echo other people’s experience with generic replacement screens. A friend replaced an iPhone battery with a generic one - the battery slowly swelled up, separated the back from the rest of the phone and then cracked the screen.

I have a cheap old tablet for the garage.
It's a bigger target for dropping sockets onto, but so far it's survived.

I bought a cheap secondhand iphone because I didn't want to care too much about it, it gets used on boats a fair bit and sometimes in a holder on the bars of my mountain bike.

I fitted a cheap screen on my old SE2. Functionally it's fine, response to touch seems no different. But the colours are very washed out versus the original.

Still, at the time it was better than telling my boss I'd broken work's £400 phone in less than a year!

As others have said, the replacement screens look all washed out compared to the genuine ones. I normally think of insurance as a waste of money, but Apple care on my daughters iPhone Pro 15 has been worth it.

First 55 days into her new phone she broke the screen, the replacement cost is £400 (she had to pay an XS) . Then a few months later she dropped it in the bath and they gave her another brand new phone. I thought they were supposed to be water prrof, but it got water inside which I assume is because the screen was replaced?

She has now broken the back glass, but I think you can only claim twice in a year?

iPhone Doctor in Halifax https://www.iphonedoctorltd.co.uk/select-an-iphone... - used them for two or three iPhones. No problems with replacement screens at all.
