Hello fellow AM owners. Recently took the plunge and purchased a low mileage well cared for DB9. It did not come with the tow hook and didn’t think I would need one! LOL. Can any readers comment on the specs for the factory tow hook and/or what one could use as a non-factory tow hook. Is there possibly a Ford or Volvo part that may be substituted for the factory AM part?

Thanks in Advance

Welcome to the DB9 family. A great car - fun and pretty simple to work on if you have access to a lift.

The tow hook was my first introduction to how different AM was... The hook is threaded with a 1/2" left handed ACME thread. So, not only does it loosen when you turn it clockwise (so Righty Loosey, not Lefty Loosey...) it's an ACME thread. I made one by getting some acme threaded rod and nut and welding a loop on the nut.

However, I subsequently learned of an easier way... You want one of these off ebay: 16-19 ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE DB9 REAR BUMPER TOWING EYE DETACHABLE ARMATURE OEM

$45 US...

Hi Group, thanks for your input. I have sourced a factory correct tow hook from EBay. Follow up question: without damaging anything, what is the correct procedure for removing the round “plug” covering the hole that the tow hook screws into behind the front license plate?
