Yah the UK is no longer the leader... (Lecornu has just resigned after one month and only one day after he announced his cabinet).

Lasted 26 days, so beaten Liz Truss' 49 days...

France only have 5 listed, for completeness the 6th was Michel Barnier with his 100 day tenure.

The one thing we were European leaders at and the bloody French come along and steal it from under us.

Sack Keir, it's coming home.

Meloni only has to survive another year to become the longest running Italian PM since the second world war!

No absolute majority in the French parliament so not a great comparison as the last 3 prime ministers were doomed anyway, like the next one.

Self inflicted problem by Macron due to his idiocy last summer.... was rather always going to be a stshow afterwards. Not that I guess. at this point. he cares as he can't run for president again so he might as well leave as poisoned a chalice as possible for whoever taking over. And especially so if it's Le Pen's bunch....

There seems to be little desire to fully grasp the nettle there. As you say, it most definitely is a poison chalice, because even to mention cuts in spending will have the roads barricaded.

My French colleague suggested a yoghurt as having a shelf life of 26 days. Or a ripe Brie.
