We're travelling down to LHR in a couple of weeks, family of 4 including a 6 year old and 10 month old. Visiting family in Folkestone for a week and will have a buggy, suitcases etc. I'm assuming a private transfer or taxi is our best option? I'm not sure I fancy navigating trains/underground with two young kids at rush hour..

Any recommendations on who to use? Or any better options? Thanks.

There is more simple train option - Elizabeth line from LHR to Stratford, change to a fast train to Ashford, then cab from there. Maybe trains to Folkestone from Ashford.

There's about 4 coaches a day from LHR to Folkstone, journey time is about 5 hours. Cost about £20/adult, kids are free I think.

There s 1 train an hour from Stratford to Folkestone direct via HS1

I looked this up, mainly out of curiosity. £183.25 return for 2 adults and 1 child and that’s with a £70 saving by splitting tickets at Hayes. If you do decide to do this by train, buy yourself a family railcard beforehand as this brings it down to £111.50 with the same split.

Also worth bearing in mind that Stratford Station (Elizabeth Line) and Stratford International (for Kent etc) are two different railway stations separated by Westfield Shopping Centre. Approx. 10 min walk between the two, or a couple of minutes via the DLR.

And people wonder why people don't use the train.... cheaper than a cab though I suppose.
