LHD Rack has been "professionally" reconditioned and now doesn't seem to be able to achieve full lock in both directions.
Any experts here with some detailed knowledge of how the rack looks internally and if it is possible to wrongly assemble?
If so then photos/drawings would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I do not have a LHD steering rack to compare but I can not see that a RHD one should be any different?

Just under 3 turns from lock to lock and the track rod ends move 11cm.

Hard to imagine what they could have got wrong internally which would have limited the travel. I suppose they could have fitted rack travel limiters by mistake, but if so those would be external within the bellows around the inner track rod joint so visible to you if you undid the bellows.

What makes you think you've lost travel? How much travel do you have now? How much did you have before?

Are the trackrods on both sides adjusted to the same length on the S3?
Does anyone had any knowledge of the internals of the rack? Can one offset the rack internally by one or two teeth?
Anyone know of an internal drawing?

Yes, by turning the steering wheel. The rack is the part that moves when the steering is turned.

It all worked perfectly before it was renovated...

That doesn't answer any of my questions. If you want to get help with the problem, you need to give us the relevant facts.
