Give me a great driving 3 day trip in Wales

20mph speed limits in a lot of places, speed camera vans etc. Take Waze with you.
Depends where you are coming from. Swansea Brynamman, A4069 and head for Builth Wells. Caer Beris Manor was always a great place to stay, I think now under new management after closing so check, beautiful gardens enclosed by the river etc. Or head into Rhayder
A470 to Rhayder, do the loop around the Elan valley dams
Then you could head to Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and up around Snowdonia (Eryri national park). The A4212 from around Trawsfynydd, Bala Lake railway, Pistyll Rhaeadr wayerfall etc...

Elan Vally is a must...but you're better off in spring when the dams are in full flow. Either way it's pretty spectacular.

Have a scroll down the 'Roads' section of PH, there are some great ideas there including maps e.g.

I'd be making a beeline for the Mach Loop
Just don't be tempted to park and walk up that hill for a better look, that is well steep.
The 20mph limits are not an issue unless your idea of driving fun is driving round a city. I drive 60 miles across wales often and only drive through a 3 miles of 20 mph limits, all of which you would have been lucky to travel faster than 20mph before the limits came in.
Have a look at this previous thread, and my Google maps routes (& a few hotel options) on page 6 of the thread
