A modern take o the 240Z and a modern classic for me. Why we didn't get this beauty instead of the typical SUV and EV madness we have to endure from Nissan in the UK.
Yeah I was sad that they weren't going to sell them in the UK which is why I went through the process of getting this one imported. Surprisingly didn't need any modifications to make it UK legal other than adding a small screen that shows the speed in mph instead of kph (kind of crazy that the digital dash doesn't let you do that already, especially when it DOES let you change between 3 different measurement units for tyre pressure). Anyway yeah I was planning to keep this car for a long time but don't really have space for it now after moving out of a big workshop and back into my home garageSteve261067 said:
The DVSA are saying this car can not pass a UK not due to emissions and noise and is not road legal in the UK
Can you confirm this or offer proof that it can pass an mot
The MOT has not been due while I have owned it so I don't really have any way to prove it can pass one, but the company that imported it for me (Torque GT) have imported hundreds of cars before and they put this one through the IVA test that makes sure it is UK legal and get the DVLA to issue a V5 for it. Can you confirm this or offer proof that it can pass an mot
They said if it was more than 3 years old then they would have given it an MOT as part of this process too but as it was less than 3 years then no MOT was required at the time. But yeah I have no concerns about that and I made sure to check all of this with them before going through the import process. Like I said in the comment above, the only thing they had to do to make it UK legal was add a mph reading instead of kph. A couple of other people have imported these cars to the UK without any issue but yeah for any further info on this I'd have to refer you to Darren at Torque GT.
Also there is no way the car would fail an MOT due to noise, as the stock exhaust was one of the more quiet exhausts I've heard on any car for a while.
Having said that, it does now have a custom exhaust and as part of this I replaced the 2 lower catalytic converters with decat pipes (it has 4 cats as standard, I only replaced the secondary ones after the O2 sensors that don't do as much). I still have the stock cats though so if it that ever did cause an issue at MOT then these could be put back on and it would definitely pass then.
EDIT: Just checked and the IVA test that it already passed includes the exact same emissions tests that are in an MOT according to the DVSA website: "The IVA standard for both spark and combustion ignition emissions is identical to the MOT standard"
Back in December 2024 when it landed in the UK, Torque GT confirmed via email that it passed the IVA test, but I have asked them now if they have any paperwork they can send over to officially confirm this for you

Took it to an MOT station today to get the emissions tested quickly and it passed no problem. The guy also said there's no way it would fail on noise. So hopefully that alleviates any concerns about that but if the buyer wants to wait a couple of weeks for it to get booked in for an actual MOT then we could do that too.
