I m adding my mrs and children to my policy, I m not completely sure if this clause means, any existing conditions are forever excluded, including anything that crops up during the first 2 years, or that after 2 years existing conditions are covered

I suspect the former however if so the 2 years seems quite harsh making me second guess myself

2. The rules of your scheme are that we exclude benefits for any medical condition which was already in existence
when you joined; that exclusion continues for two years.

Sounds like a moratorium clause, means you can't claim for something existing you had in the first 2 years of being on the policy. It's normally if you've had treatment or advice of that particular thing 5 years (or any other length of specified time) prior to joining the policy.
Once 2 years have passed, you can then claim on it, if that symptom has popped up again.

If diagnosed with something new after joining the policy then you can claim straight away on that.

Yep it’s a two year moratorium clause- They won’t be covered for anything they’ve had in the past until they have been free of treatment or advice for two years after taking out the policy. Some policies go back a lifetime some just anything you’ve had in last 5 years.

Standard underwriting rules. and 2 years is on the low side.

Are they covered elsewhere? You can often transfer the level of cover. I transferred by wife to my business scheme whilst maintaining her zero exclusions despite recent treatment.
