Finally the DB12 S has launched and the standard spec is ticking all of my boxes.
Focus on driving dynamics, some tweaks to the interior, new back end, titanium exhaust, etc.

If the price is right, it could be the sweet spot of the range.

This is the AM I was waiting for.
Many thanks to my fantastic dealer, who allowed me to cancel my DB12 order to order a DB12 S instead.

Be interesting to know the price with titanium exhaust and ceramic brakes as standard, which would be £20k option on the standard car. Think looks great with the rear boot lid spoiler added.

I don't mean to sound negative and hope it is a win for them, but personally I just dont really get it.

the hp difference is so little you won't notice, i think the non S Db12 is more cleanly and elegantly styled, front added splitters look like something that's aftermarket. over under exhaust is really not to my eye. Maybe you'll notice a tiny difference in chassis/steering, but probably only if you drove them side by side.

Have you driven a Db12? They are fast as sh*t, more power isn't really what I think of when I think about db12. They aren't "soft" either, I think the db11 was a softer more GT like ride, certainly the db12 wouldn't be accused of needing to be firmed up, especially not if driving on anything other but perfect swiss roads.

Now if the DB12 "s" had a detuned V12 5.2 in it... take my money and sign me up...

There's just something wrong about a DB12 without a V12. The AMG V8 isn't anyway near special enough for the prices that are demanded. Give us a V12 or price it more reasonably.

Beautiful car, but agree, sad about the missing V12. I have a DB11 with the V12 and would not have it if only the V8. The 5.2L V12 is an awesome powerplant.

I wonder why this isn't called 'DBS'?

It took me a while to figure out that for each basic design, the order goes DB > DBS > Vanquish.

Saw these being manufactured during our Gaydon factory tour back in mid-August. Wondered how long it would take before being announced, especially as spy shots on the ring were taken much earlier in the year.

Not a fan of the front-end add-ons , but exhaust configuration looks quite sporty.

Hopefully S will appeal to wider group of buyers, and help Aston achieve a much-needed increase in sales.

Still sceptical on CarPlay Ultra though and not keen to get it added to my 2025 Vantage. Would prefer to get the base AML software sorted first - still lots of glitches and bugs!

A DB12 certainly needs a V12. V8 power is great, and you can just keep upping the power by upping the boost, but it just does not have the finesse of a 12.
I also am unconvinced with the over and under exhausts, and those squared-off spoke wheels are hideous. At least there is an option.
Looks very Taycan from the rear but overall a very nice looking car.

Have driven the DB12 and new Vantage side by side and the driving experience was very different.

I liked the more luxury and quality feel of the DB12 interior, but, compared to the Vantage, the DB12 felt a little bit lazy (throttle response, shifting times) and overall wasn't as engaging to drive as the Vantage. Totally fine for a GT, but for me the driving experience haven't been "special" enough".

From the press release, the DB12 S will address all these mentioned above and is exactly the car I was looking for.

It's also very reasonable priced.

I don't understand why most of the posters are so negative about the brand.

Check prices of the facelifted Amalfi, Bentley or the new Turbo S, which all command a huge premium to the pre facelifted models, making the pricing of AM very competitive.

This is the exact sentiment all over BMW forums when they release a CS model.
I actually went from an M2 Competition to an M2CS a while back. It was like a different car.
I expect this will be the same.

That’s my thoughts. Every time have driven the new Vantage or DB12, get back in the DBS and any idea of changing disappears in the first few miles. The V12 is great and sounds awesome with the titanium exhaust.
