Bonnet bracing - wearing through manifold

I have noticed that the welded seam on the top of the exhaust manifold, where the two banks meet, has a groove in it.
The groove goes through the seam and now I can see the hairline crack beyond the weld. The crack is sooty so a small amount of exhaust gas must now be escaping.

:confused: Sure it wasn't there before, I was a little puzzled.

It appears the bonnet bracing is rubbing against the manifold, wearing a hole in both.

Has anyone had previous experience of this and has anyone got any suggestions.

I think the manifold could be welded before it gets any worse, and I will carefully try to bend the bracing to provide a little more clearance.

Can you take some pictures of the brace, and where its mounted?

Mine has just gone here too. In my case I think it was caused by mechanical stresses on the Y piece (I beat the out of it while I was taking the element out) and it is nowhere near anything else. I suspect the same is true in your case, I don't see the bonnet bracing doing significant damage to the manifold without leaving very obvious evidence on the brace itself.
