Hi folks. I bought an Our Place frying pan with lid about 6 months back. It’s been great, it’s got the titanium lining instead of the chemical non stick coating. Works well but could be better.

Anyway it arrived pristine, high polished stainless steel with lid and spatula. The pan as per any pan has got the typical burnt residue on it despite not being messy.

How can I restore its clean lustre without scratching the surface? My partner’s ordinary non stick wok is the same on the outside. Thanks in advance.

I use bar keepers friend powder on mine. But I have since learnt that you can use tomato paste apparently. I would try that first, but otherwise bar keepers friend works for me.

I also use barkeepers on our stainless. It kind of polishes too, so you will get (IME) a good result.
What I tend to do is apply BKF and let it sit for 5-10 mins. Then come back and scrub it and then rinse several times.

LIFT heavy duty degreaser. Used in professional kitchens for exactly this type of thing.

I've used The Pink Stuff to clean our All-Clad stainless steel pans. Came up like new, though they weren't too badly discoloured.

Oven pride or similar from any of the pound shops will remove pretty much anything, just dont leave it on aluminium or decorative finishes. Works great on ceramic coated stuff as well, le cruset pans and dishes come up like new.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have BKF under the sink so I could give a go, although I thought it would scratch the polished surface. I also have Astonish but I know for sure it’s abrasive from bitter experience.

The oven cleaner suggestion I might try too aa I think I’ve a kit. I’m not OCD about but if I do it from time to time that will stop the build up getting worse.

Any other suggestions inc cheap or natural remedies are welcome. 🤗

I’ve done a patch test using BKF and it seems to have removed the appearance. I’ll do the rest of the pan over the weekend.
