Have the opportunity to drop by for a few hrs as a drive by and top up on the cheaper booze....well until I read you can only take out 1 litre and as I've more than that in my motorhome as it is....thought I'd walk in. Anyone been there recently and parked up cheapo???

I wouldn't bother taking any vehicle in to Gibraltar.

There's motorhome parking in Alcaidesa Marina in La Linea. From there, it's a short walk across to the border, and 10 minutes from there into town.

Unless you really have nothing better to do, I wouldn’t bother. I was in Gibraltar in June and found it to be a pretty miserable place even in the sunshine.

It didn’t seem to be particularly cheap either.

It’s a bit like a downmarket Portsmouth……

The carpark at La Linea has a motorhome section with toilets, water and grey/black waste. All included in the15€ for 24 hours. We were there April on the way to the Algarve, called there on the way back in June this year.

I'm genuinely interested to find out what you both love about it if you'd share? Maybe I've missed something which would be a shame.

Britain in the sun; short flight; local transfers not required; tour the rock on an e-bike, Catalonia Bay worth a stop; Ocean Village for a decent night out; marina view suite in the Sunborn; top of the rock and caves (especially) if you've not been before; cheap whilst there; duty free savings paying for most of the trip;

I wouldn't want to live there, but it makes for a great weekend away..

Only went for a day recently but I enjoyed it (first time)

Cable car + tickets are kinda pricey (49£ per adult IIRC) but wasn't sure we'd get another chance whilst the kids are cheap so went for it. Includes access all over the top and the botanical gardens below.
Easy border crossing. Drove from Estepona.
Found a multi storey car park and just went for it. Ended up costing about 12£ for the day. Was at the opposite end of the main street to the cable car so perfect really.
Enjoyed the strange combo of Mediterranean feeling but with British road signs and shops.
Paid £2.20 for a proper barista cappuccino and £13 for a proper sit down fish and chips so didn't think it was pricey at all!
Keep an eye on the weather as the Levante cloud might cover some of your views at the top.
Also the only speed camera I saw on the entire holiday was a bunch of coppers on bikes in the more residential bit south of town if you are going to Europa point.Typical Brits!
