Replying so it appears in my feed. Also an excuse for posting pics - i reckon that if you post, stick a pic of your car up to start the thread off in an interesting way? I like seeing old cars...

Also, driving into London, I'm just proud to be doing my part for my fair city. Never knew a 7 litre V8 with hot cam was so environmentally sound.

Living within the recently expanded ULEZ I'm proud to be doing my bit for air quality by having three pre '72 cars to smoke around in (together with more modern V10 and V8 powered vehicles). biggrin

Ditto - however living in the 'extended' zone does exclude (if you want to avoid the daily charge) many later vehicles between the mid 80's and mid 2000's. One wonders if the many cameras that were chopped, painted over and complex driving routes are really worth the bother (for non-exempt vehicles?)

I agree with this though sadly these two are from a current advert for it. A combination of age and health really though I'm certainly not desperate to sell it, just that I seldom get chance to use the thing nowadays. It still makes me smile on the odd occasion when I do get out in it though. smile

I'll play - here's my 66 Impala. RHD, Aussie import to Scotland. Has a fresh 383, powerglide and a 12-bolt with posi.
I lived in this house my first time in Edinburgh - I never thought I'd be parking a Chev in front of it 30 years later.

Here's the old engine - the new one is similar looking but with aluminium heads.

Crane mild competition camshaft and Hooker headers for a lovely, choppy idle! Exhaust is actually not antisocially loud, but very burbly when pulling away gently in traffic - a lovely sound.

At high revs it sounds very nice too, but I don't get it there very much...
Your Camaro sounds superb! I should get some Hooker headers for my 1970 Challenger.

I had them on my 1969 Mustang Mach 1, but have forgotten how good they sound.

My super duper 3’ stainless Pypes exhaust system arrived today, looks goods , but was disappointed to see it’s made in bloody China,
I remember when I unboxed my American Racing Equipment Wheels and feeling slightly deflated!
Yep made in The Peoples Republic Of China ffs !

Our American cars ain’t very American anymore,
What is this world coming to!

With Hooker not being Hooker as such for a few years (now part of Holley) and presumably with corporate bean counters reducing the numbers of 'old school' products manufactured some of the headers once catalogued have been discontinued......and seemingly some of the large tube race type headers. No big tube Super Comps for Vettes any more (except side pipes)
Love the Challenger!

Most auto stuff is now no longer 'Made in USA'.....

There simply is no longer the industry left to make stuff.....at least not in small batch quantities that the classic industry would support.

LA and southern California used to be the hot bed of hot rodding and aftermarket industry but that's all pretty much gone now. Nasty environmentally dirty industry such as the car industry and aviation industry that was huge there for well over half a century, has all but disappeared.

The last foundry left in the LA area that was casting alloy wheels closed down about 12-18 months ago, when the owner of 30+ years retired, and could not find a buyer to buy it take it over, and it closed down.
