If you don't know it's the Belgium Coastal Tram that runs from De Panne to Knokke-Heist. so virtually French Border to Dutch Border, give or take a few kliks
Has anyone done this,as I'm going to do it at the end of the month
Trip up will be done in one run trip back calling off at any places that took my fancy.
Will definitely go to Ostend, but has anyone got any tips and places to go ?
I've got the full day, stay in Dunkirk night before and De panne on the day.

I've been to the Atlantic Wall museum at Ostend (via motorcar) and that is worth a visit. Pleasant little nature reserve alongside it to stroll around too - it is land owned by the Belgian Royal Family so is one of the few spots not developed into housing/seafront.
I have on my to-do list walking the length of the Belgian coast as it all seems one long esplanade with plenty of beer and frites to keep you going.

I stayed in Adinkerke, where the tram starts (or ends), but only used the tram as far as end of De Panne.
From Adinkerke you can jump on the train to Veurne or Ghent. You can climb up the bell tower at St Nicholas' Church in Veurne, you just have to ensure you're not in the belfry at the wrong time.
