Hi All

I used to be big in to RC Cars and have recently dug out my old cars and kit with a view to getting some/one of them running. I have a Tamiya TL-01 & TB-01 and also Yokomo MR4-BC. I'm looking to get the Yokomo up and running and predictably my old 1500 Ni-Cad batteries need replacing.

Now, things have obviously changed a lot since I was last around the hobby - new technoloies, brands I've never heard of etc and I guess I'm just after a bit of a sense check of the batteries and charger I'm thinking of going for.

I'm thinking Ni-Mh rather than Li-Po for simplicity (may upgrade to Li-Po of I get hooked?) so was looking at the below:

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/enrich-power-...

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-imax-b6...

I've never heard of either of these brands, but have seen them mentioned on forums etc. are they any good? I'll need a Tamiya-Deans adapter for the batteries too, or I can crack out the old soldering iron and swap the ones from my old batteries I suppose.

Any thoughts/input appreciated, I'm looking forward to getting the car running again after all these years! Pic below of anyone's interested

Thanks

Sky RC are pretty popular for chargers. Something like that will be fine - good idea to get one like that which has lipo charging facility as well as nimh, as you'll definitely go the lipo route if you get back into the hobby.

If you haven't found Iconic RC on Facebook yet, then prepare to lose hours, days, weeks - hell, the rest of your life to vintage RC...

SkyRC are perfectly good chargers and that will do fine if you get lipo later.

Most NiMH these days seem to be for people to get up and running with Tamiyas hence the plug. https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/products/radien... if you can't be bothered with swapping connectors about.

Lots of the places that sell Tamiya will do bundles of charger, battery and radio gear which can work out well, particularly if you want to get away from crystals.

Thanks, yeah I thought having the option of LiPo would be a good idea. I've not found Iconic RC so will take a look and begrudgingly accept that things from my youth are now considered vintage rofl

Thanks for the info. Yeah an adapter like that would be perfect and save some faffing!

Will stick with the radio kit I have for now (surprised that still works to be honest!) didn't even know there was an alternative to crystals!
