What car would you choose to do over 30k miles a year in?
Discussion
I've just been having a discussion about covering high mileage and electric cars on another thread, and I was interested in whether you'd choose electric/petrol or diesel to do over 30k miles a year in?
We've gone with diesel for the last 20 years to do that job of covering high miles for example, and we're still happy to do that now as well(the last 3 cars have been diesel SUVs for reference).
But what car(petrol/diesel or electric) would you prefer to do it in though?

I'd be torn between the most comfy car you can sit in and a GT3 RS. Why? Because in the comfy luxury white goods car it will be the most boring 30,000 miles of your life - dunno how many hours that will be but I'd be concerned about falling asleep and just wishing my life would end. And in the GT3 RS, it will be the most memorable but I'd be concerned that at the end of every journey, I'd be too knackered to do what I was supposed to be doing.

If someone else is picking up the tab for fuel and maintenace I'd take an e39 M5.
They really are a motherf
king cruise missle of a car but you pay for that effortless mile munching ability...
520 would be faster in the real world. They really are a motherf

It visits the petrol station fewer times per thousand miles than the M5
and will sit at the speed limit all day, just like the M5.
M5 will easily beat the 520 at the 0-60 by a few seconds, but the 520 wins 10 - 15 minutes
for every time the M5 has to visit the petrol station.
250 mile range versus maybe 350 - 400 miles. Time is money.

They're one of my all time favourite cars. They really are a motherf

My BiL had an E39 535i(auto), and that was a lovely thing to drive I thought. Not mega fast, but lovely for a V8 for me.

I totally hear what you're saying with all that.

For comfort practicality and economy Škoda Superb either diesel or plug in hybrid depending on your journey type ie multiple loca ish journeys 5/6 days a week or less frequent cross country charges
Either that or an S6 avant or a V90 T8 if you want to munch miles at pace
Full EVs? Not got enough experience to comment but would be keen to hear some opinions

A bit harsh, but probably fair!
Thanks for the gentle treatment.

My own thoughts would drift in the direction of the poster above who mentioned a 520. Small engined petrol cars might not be sexy but IMO they are very good at what they do. Save the sports car for the weekends!

As a leftfield soloution I'd also suggest the 370 Nismo, I've driven 750+ miles in about 36hrs in mine without any problems.
