I'm in the market for a Mac for my Daughter. She's using my one at the minute (MBAir, M2, 8GB, 256GB SSD).

I found some all over the place as you do and on the hunt for a decently priced one that isn't refurbished i saw this:

Is your daughter in education at all, discounts can usually be had from apple if she is at university, free or reduced accessory at the moment too with a macbook air iirc.

if you're not in a rush the m5 should be announced dropping prices further.

sign up to hotukdeals and set up notifications for macbook, its a great site I basically use on every big purchase.

You can see historical deals too to see what you'd be aiming for

I got mine from https://www.krcs.co.uk had the best deal. They also do education pricing.

£1139 on that site before delivery. More expensive than the others it seems but thanks.

I think I’d rather avoid refurb bit for no reasonable reason as I n ow they come with the same warranty.

Abut a year ago (maybe Black Friday) we got ours from Very - they had some deals on, PLUS using code WELCOME gave an extra 20% off for a first purchase cool

Probably worth a look to see if that code still works - can t believe we ended up with about 27% discount!

eta: just checked, & yes, they still offer 20% on a first purchase! See https://www.very.co.uk/first-order-discount.page
Also meant using Very Pay, which let us pay over 3 months for free. Go over that and the APR will hit hard, but that worked fine for us smile

Give her yours. Buy a new one with her educational discount (get 16gb ram at least)

The M4 Air is very, very good. Possibly one of their best products, though wish it had a charging point on the RHS (usb, etc)

Got exactly that spec from AO.com in august for £944 (after AO membership discount)

Price there now is £1080, so a slight saving.

Looks like they exclude a lot of stuff now, including the Mac range. Not sure if that includes MacBook though:

Oh bugger. Maybe our two tipped them over a point last year. Bah.

Could you not give your Air to your daughter and buy something new for yourself? It's what I did with my son, twice in fact over a few years when he was at school and then university.

Educational discount is 10% plus a free pair of airpods (normally £179 - flog them on eBay if not required!). Offer ends Oct 21st, I think.

M4 air is a great little machine. All M4's have 16GB.

Sorry I thought I had said. No education discount is an option as she’s in full time employment having left education a while ago.

I don’t want to hand her mine, for no real reason other than I like it and if she is to get one then I want her to have a brand new one.

I’ll go back through the replies and see if I can secure something

Looks like you won't do better than around £1080 then. There's often a small difference depending on colours.
