Gifted Porsche Boxster 986.2
Discussion
I have recently taken ownership of my mums Posrche Boxster, it's 2003 3.2 S, i was with her when she bought it from new in 2003, she covered 33000 miles in it before giving up driving it in her late 70's! I sold my s1 elise to make room for it on my driveway, the plan was to have something i could just get in and drive without the need to tinker with things, obviously that's not quite gone to plan!
First drive home after picking it up it was obvious something was not quite right! depite being maintained every year it had not been driven much in 2 years and was showing signs of a misfire, OBD confirmed cylinder one at fault. Plan had been to get it serviced at the next mot but i can't wiat until April so i bought coils, plugs, cabin filter and air filter from design 911, all sorted in an afternoon and now it's all good.
The other issue that i was dreading was the non working AC, i had borrowed the car for a wedding 2 summers ago and noticed it was dead, asked my mum if she had noticed and she told me it had never been switched on! wasn't even aware it had AC as she hated it anyway, i was sure it would be dead but i figured get it in for a regas anyway, my local protyre had an offer on so i booked it in for £47, very surprised that were zero leaks and it now blows ice cold
Apart from that i have only had to replace some broken fixings and a mullered cill finisher, there is a dent in the passenger cill but zero paint damage, hoping i can get that pulled out, will get it in for an oil service next year and get the brake fluid changed, in the meantime i plan to drive it weather permitting!

one other job i did was to sort the radio knobs, the soft rubber finish breaks down over time and go extremely sticky! so i removed them and tried to restore them, i only managed to totally destroy them! i was left with the white plastic backing, so i ordered replacements at a not insignificant cost
in the meantime i stumbled on a box of plastic nut covers i'd bought for my transit custom in the garage and i'll be damned if i didn't find an almost perfect fit/replacement! They protrude a tad more that standard but they literally pushed on, interferance fit, no glue required....

Very nice. You must be incredibly lucky just needing a regas on 986 Boxster, just about everyone I read about needs comdensers or other things. Enjoy.
Looked at a 987 years ago for a friend and the aircon didn't work. "Just needs a regas" said the salesman, and I made him agree to get the aircon fixed before collecting.Ended up costing him way more than he thought as it was the condemsors.
