PCM I or II

I have a 996TT with PCM I but i have heard somewhere that they had stopped/were going to stop making discs compatible with PCM I and that the system will quickly become obsolete.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Would it be possible to retro-fit PCM II into a car which originally had PCM I? any idea on price?

No. Not possible.

PCMII uses the MOST fibre optic in-car data bus. You need a MY03 on car to fit it. That and the 997/987 seem to fitted with a facelift PCM as well...

I was quoted 4K just for the hardware (it can be fitted to my car) and then there's fitting it...

I agree that making PCMI obselete so quickly is unreasonable.

Since you have a non-MOST car I suggest getting a decent after market system fitted instead. I have a MOST car and actually want an after-market system - but they seem to be unobtainable!
