Two-Way Media Server

I suspect I've asked this before, but can't find the thread.

We record quite a lot of stuff on Freeview,,as well as using Netflix, NowTV and Amazon Prime.

I know I can get/build a server to allow us to watch recordings on any one of four tellies, but is there a solution that will allow me, via any one of those tvs, to set the server to record something, or does one tv have to be the 'master'?
