I like my 2 sugars in my coffee but I’ve got to cut down

I’ve tried Stevia and Truvia and both are pretty disgusting.

Is there anything I can use (preferably not ridiculously expensive) that actually doesn’t have a horrible taste?

How many coffees do you have? I also take two sugars in coffee, one in tea.
I restrict myself to two coffees in the morning, then no more. It's easier than dropping the sugar!

My wife has tried lots of different sweeteners and tbh they all affect the taste. I prefer to just have the sugar and for the sake of 32 Calories, does it really matter? That's a tiny proportion to take off any meal which I'd rather do than have bad coffee

Try just one sugar.

I found out that my IBS was triggered by artificial sweetener.

I have cut back processed foods. I have proper butter, full fat milk, yoghurt etc. And I have lost weight.

I use Xylitol. Tastes exactly like sugar, no after taste at all. Only downside is it is very dangerous for dogs, just in case you use it for baking.

try monk fruit 'sugar'. it is zero calorie. my OH uses it in cooking.

the only real way to cut it is to wean yourself off slowly. growing up we all had 2 sugars in coffee or tea. when i left home i reduced by 1/2 spoon at a time. sometimes i visit and dad forgets and makes me a coffee with 2 sugars. it is so vile it's hard to overcome the reaction to spit it out.

i'll still have one sugar in tea sometimes if i want a comforting brew.

managed to get mum off sugar this same way also. try it a few weeks with 1/2 spoon less. get down to 1 spoon tasting normal/good to you, then make a cup with 2 and see what your reaction is. if it is 'worse' then you'll get the motivation to continue, if 'better' then take a serious look at the rest of your diet.

I think cutting down gradually helps, you're at 2 now, next week try 1&1/2 rather than trying to cut it completely.

The only time I have sugar in a hot drink it's brown sugar in coffee.

About half a spoonful.

Much nicer than white and not nearly as bad for your glycaemic control.

Cuss them Victorians with their refine this refine that nonsense.

Extra milk.

Pros and cons to it, but I very rarely have sugar even though I like it, but instead have a good inch of milk.

For various reasons three years ago I switched from full fat to semi !

or try oat milk, which is sweeter than cow milk and cut down on sugar that way

I'd just cut down and stop.

I did this with tea when I was about 12 and coffee probably about 20.

Aside from supplementing with sugar having only downsides, you'll have the benefit of being able to taste the natural sugars in foods or those released during the cooking process. Once your palate recalibrates you might find other sweetened things easier to avoid.

Drink better coffee.

A quality espresso is sweet and balanced, add some milk if you dont want it short,

Better coffee with some *real* dairy cream. Nice and smooth, almost dessert like, with no sugar.

I have some bad news for you, the GI is pretty much the same.

It's surprising how many refined carbs are very close to or even above sucrose in. re GI

Baguettes can be as high as 95 which is higher than sucrose and as close to glucose as makes no difference

I though a Snickers bar would have been much higher. It's sugar, sugar, and a few peanuts.
Popcorn, serving 16g? The microwve bags are 90-110g so 6 servings. Even if you share a pack that's well over.
Peanuts, more realistic serving size, but that snack is still around 600 calories! Great for low sugars, but I eat too many for weight loss smile

The Glyceamic load, is a better reproduction. You eat less sugar, than you would pizza, for example.
