If you're in the City my old boss used to get on the Circle Line for a Nap.

Stage an accident. You can make convincing bruises out of pencil lead. Be found feeling groggy after walking into a door or slipping in the bathroom. And then spend the afternoon in front of the telly filling out your application to Claims Direct.

Tell them you've got a meeting somewhere or a trade show to get to and go home early. That one's good for a few times a year

Not that I'd ever do this you know

just sleep under a desk. A colleague of mine used to do this in the corner of an open plan office and was never discovered!

Simple, book a meeting room for an hour or two, set your alarm clock, and go and have a kip in it.

If anyone enquires as to who you were meeting given that you were the only person in the room inform them that it was a teleconference.

Actually I think there was a small club or something. There must have been loads of empty trains, then one jammed packed with a load of suits fast a kip snoring.

Sounds like George Costanza, he had a pillow and alarm clock stored under his desk

Make sure it's not a tooo deeper sleep. At my irst job, we once had an older woman work there called Eilean, who was found late at night on the bogs, fast asleep with her knickers around her ankles.

One of the perks of being in IT is we have many rooms that only we have access to that we can go and kip in. I usually go for a nap at least once during the week in the south IDF ... My next step is to bring in a camp bed and a sleeping bag and then i'm set for lunchtime naps and a place to kip should things get out of hand while out and about the city

Superb !!

At least withe the good old Circle Line you knew where you were.....

Whilst living in Essex, missed my stop @ Benfleet and woke up in bloody Shoeburyness.....great

Mind you though, my neighbour did the same thing, BUT the train turned round at Shoeburyness and went back the other way - got woke up by the guard on the PA saying "Benfleet.....this is Benfleet....", jumped up and opened the wrong door.....lol

Reminds me of a story of a collegue. He was in London with his Mrs on a night out celebrating an Aniversary.
On the way home on the train they became a bit frisky and decided to pop in the bogs for a quickie(not very nice I know). The were happy getting on with it, when they realised they were nearly home. To save any embarasment of We know what you've been doing, they decided to wait until the train pulled into the platform then make a run for the door.
So when the train slowed to a halt they both bundled out of the bog...

Only to find they were stuck at a signal.
Apparently the whole carridge was in tears, and my loser mate and his bird were rather red faced.

Well I found it quite amusing

Your company might have a sick bay area with a bed, usually in a quiet corner of the records area. I had a friend who worked for a company in New York during the late 90’s and he worked such long hours that he kept a sleeping bag at work, an overnight kit and gym membership in the same building. Great idea really as he was divorced and only saw his children on weekends any way.

Edit: You could always leave a post it note with your number on your desk saying something like “Back later, if urgent call me on:……”, have all your calls diverted to cell phone, set cell phone alarm clock for an hour away and then go and have a nap in the car.
