Is it a gimmick, or a nice nod to nostalgia on your wrist?

To be honest you could ask the same question about mechanical watches, Rolex et al.

I'd be voting nostalgia also. I quite like it, it's a bit of fun.

When I read the thread title I thought, “this’ll be interesting”, but I think they went too safe and subtle. They should have gone MORE gimmicky and it would’ve been even better.

Will be interesting to see what they will price it. All they've changed is just the fascia around the calculator and around the time. It doesn't really stand apart much from a normal metal steel version.

I'll probably get one, unless the launch results in scalper nonsense making them unobtainable.

Already have a CA-53, and I'd maybe have liked it if they'd reissued a CA-50 as the BTTF special, but either way, it's a fun thing and I'm a big fan of the films, so will try to nab one.

Wasn't the original the HP-01?
I'd love to add one ot the collection, but they're a bit pricey.

The original calculator watch was the HP-01, but the original watch worn by Marty McFly in the first film was the CA-50, its a 53 in the second and third films.

I believe Doc wears an Armitron Wrist Comp 101 on one arm, and a Seiko A826 on the other.
