Hi All,
Im the current owner of a 2016 F11 530d which i have owned for around 5 years and 70k miles. Absolutely love the car and have no intention of changing....however due to a change of job my commute has dropped from around 25 motorway miles each way to just 5 across predominantly b roads. This seems pretty low for a diesel and I would have some concerns as to the car ever getting up to a sufficient operating temperature which may lead to problems down the line. Do any of you learned users have much experience of this type of use with this engine? I don't really want to change but might consider a pre-emptive one if it will save a lot of grief in the long run. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you'd be well suited to an EV

Don't think that drive will do a diesel any favours long term

I have dropped my mileage on my F30 335d down to something similar to yours. I do a long run once or twice a month and use BP Ultimate every now and again. Mine is 9 years old ,a '66 plate, and the drop to shorter miles was 5 years ago. No issues. In fact the last two tanks of BP Ultimate has made the engine even sharper on the throttle response whilst keeping a higher gear in places where it would change down. If you like it, keep it, but make occasional long runs and use decent fuel.

Keep it; use it, take it for an Italian tune-up every so often, keep the oil & filter fresh and it'll be fine thumbup
