What's with the trend for hexagonal lights in car showrooms? Are these meant to show cars in their best light? I would have thought that even, diffused lighting would be better.

Trendy insta fashion thing I reckon. Not sure it adds much.

I think a diffused light, stretched ceiling shows a car at its best.

It helps to see body condition - shallow dents and wavy panels mostly.

But when it's slung up on the ceiling it seems to be more car geekery pomp and ceremony. In the link in the post above you see that the top of the car is blasted with LED light and the sides are in shadows which will hide body and paint damage to a degree.
