Then you might want to know that some people belive this is a front to get email addresses for a new F1 related website. Only time will tell.

If you want to get him knighted I'd drop a note to Liz II.

I signed it, and haven't had any spam. They do have a Privacy Policy, for what it's worth. I certainly hope it's genuine.

afternoon all. i sent an email to the website regarding the thoughts on it being a front for another site and received a very prompt reply from a nice chap called chris, thought you all might be interested in it:

"... I have no F1 website or message board and have no plans to have one, I am full time committed to the Sid Watkins project, the campaign to award Sid Watkins a knighthood takes around 15-16 hrs of my day which involves speaking to media, driver managers, F1 employees, PA's of F1 team bosses and engineers, the FOM and much else and I would not go through so many hours in a day commitment in order to get people to join a message board or website, the fact that so many from the paddock have signed the campaign justifies all the effort

I will not deny that some emails have been sent by my people but they have been related to the petition not any site

I would also like to refer you to our legally binding Privacy Policy - www.grandprixforum.com/privacy.html

I hope that satisfies your requirementsd :-) we are committed to and focused on lobbying for a knighthood for Sid Watkins and there is no web site or message board and i find it disappointing that people should think that way

Hi I am the organiser of the campaign for the Knighthood to be offered to Professor Sid Watkins for his work in motorsport and F1

I thought I would register having had an email discussion with one of the posters

The campaign is 100% genuine and focused on Professor Watkins being awarded a knighthood which he deserves

It was through reading Professor Watkins' books that it inspired me that he should get a knighthood, he is an OBE at the moment and that same honour is held by one of the girls off Atomic Kitten, one of the Spice Girls, David Beckham and other assorted "celebs" which I find quite frankly insulting to Professor Watkins when he has devoted 25 years of his life to saving drivers lives not to mention his work as a brain surgeon outside of F1, we will not rest till The Prof gets proper reward for what he has done

Several drivers in the sport we love would not be alive today but for the work of Sid Watkins and the F1 community should work together at ensuring he gets true honours

With the site itself it is fully compliant with the data protection act and the privacy policy is legally binding, the fact that all the phone calls, faxes, letters and emails to the paddock has resukted in so many supporting the campaign makes the whole thing justified

Thanks goes out to all of you that have signed
