I saw a Tipo 33 today and all I got was this lousy photo
Discussion
I was quite frankly amazed to see a 1967 TIPO 33 stradale today being driven on the road in Hertfordshire.
My crappy Polestar dash cam failed to record the encounter. I did get a couple of snaps from the camera, but unfortunately they look like they were taken on a potato.

I never thought I’d see one in the wild. Fewer than 20 in the world….

Amazing car! It looks even better in real life than in photos. I remember back in 2018, I visited the Alfa Romeo Museum just before heading to the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. There was a Tipo 33 Stradale on display at the museum, and while it was undeniably beautiful, something about its stance didn’t seem quite right, especially around the rear axle. The angle looked off, and it stuck with me. Anyway, I told to myself, 'Take a good look at this car, you’ll never see one again.'
Just two hours later, I arrived at the Concorso, and to my surprise, there was another Tipo 33 Stradale. This one was different, it looked absolutely perfect. The proportions, the stance, everything was spot on. For me, it was the best car of the entire show. It’s almost painfully beautiful.

There were VX220 kits done for them. I m not actually sure how many of those were sold tbh, not many I don t think!
It had double stacked headlights like the one in Arese that I have seen a good few times. Definitely not a vx220 in a frock. If it’s a replica it’s a bloody good one. It was on a G plate which sounds about right.
I’m just pissed off that this was the best pic I got.
Did you see whether it had the roof-mounted wiper? The other car (other than the one in the Alfa museum) with the double headlights had that.
Edit: I see now that the details at the rear differ, so what you saw should be a replica unfortunately.

Like I say I have seen a couple of real ones previously.
If it is a replica it s one of the very best I ve seen.
Didn t clock the wiper though
There are only two made with double-stack headlights, which were the prototypes. The "production" version had single headlights. One prototype is in the Alfa museum and the other had a different rear end and a roof-mounted wiper (pictured above). If it is a replica it s one of the very best I ve seen.

Is that one of the 33 body sets ( ltd to 33 sets) which Classic Alfa were selling a few years back.
I think that they were from the original bucks.
I can t remember what the running gear was.
I don't think so - it's an R33 restomod by Automotive Artisans that uses a Maserati 4.2 litre V8. I think that they were from the original bucks.
I can t remember what the running gear was.
