Hi, new here. Well, long time fan of the site but never posted on the forum.

I'm in the market for a BMW 325i E93 however the more research I do the more my head says no but my heart is still saying yes. The one I have my eye on is mint and has never failed an MOT. Trouble is dealer has 'serviced' it. I'm thinking maybe there is trouble ahead, hence the previous owners getting out of it. It's only done 86k and the interior looks factory fresh but that engine....

Thoughts please!

What specifically is worrying you about it?

Why does the dealer servicing it make you think there could be trouble?

|There could be many reasons the previous owner moved it on, maybe needed a more practical car etc.

Ultimately it's a car which I assume will be over 10 years old so it's not going to be perfect.

The N53 engine and its many problems. Injectors, fuel pump etc.

I asked the dealer for details of the last service. Done in 2023. I like to service cars every year regardless of use. Dealer said they would service it but I’m guessing that means a big standard oil & filter.

When I was looking for an E91 and my current E90 I deliberately looked for ones with the N52 engine, although those models are all getting on in years now.

I just didn't fancy the risk of having the issues you've mentioned, but if you fancy it at least you are going into it with your eyes open!

I’m going to take the plunge. It’s a really good looking car and appears to be mint. Will have a look through the service history and invoices, if any, check the coolant colour and oil and decide from there.

Bought an E93 325i, just over 5 years ago.
No regrets.
Smooth engine, reasonable mpg (33) and apart from routine servicing, plus consumables (tyres and broke pads), no problems.
Go for it!

I’m definitely leaning this way now. It’s going to be my 2nd car, just for cruising around when my wife is using the family car. The one I’m looking at is immaculate, so the previous owners must have looked after it inside and out. I’ll find out when I view it on Monday!

They’re lovely things and have aged very well IMO. A lot of car for the money. First thing I’d do (if you buy) is ensure all drainage channels are clear. And check for any signs of water ingress before the purchase too.

Good luck & enjoy.

I’ve a checklist to go through. Will add your advice to it. Hopefully there will be an invoices of work done for me to go through.
