Hope the title makes sense. I need to run a network cable around a home office and am planning to use hollow polymer skirting that's 20mm deep. I was thinking of terminating the cables at a socket in the skirting but am struggling to find a shallow enough back box.

Use a 16mm patress box on top of the skirting and cut the back away to suit?

I think you’ll find that RJ45 modules need 35mm behind them
