Inspector Clouseau will soon have the case cleared up.

Well, they'll first have to work out how these fiendishly stealthy robbers gained access to the first floor...although there may be some clues that an astute rozzeur might spot.

Seems to have happened while the museum was open too?! Quite incredible that they could have worked for 7 minutes and got away.

Hi-Vis and a clipboard. Would probably allow you to walk out with most things. Obviously asking a security guard to sign a bit of paper would add to the ruse.

As a side note, anyone know where I can sell a few hundred gems, asking for a mate.

On the outside, sure, but apparently they used mini chainsaws inside (presumably the battery powered garden types?), so not like they were wandering around like staff.

That's torn it. Stand by for some dire PH paronomasia....or. if you will pharonomasia

I suspect that some of these puns are going to make Magritte my teeth.

I'm sad it's happened - but doing over the Louvre must be a thing of dreams for some people. I can't see how it wasn't done to order - the planning, financing and execution seem very advanced. It will be in a secret collection by teatime.

A post on Reddit implying that people (ie tourists) were in the Apollo gallery when the banging started to attempt to get through the window, everyone rushed out and they locked the gates. Maybe that was a standard response to a suspected terrorist incident, keeping people safe, but it actually turned out to be a burglary and they carried on unchallenged.

I’m not sure the timing completely checks out for that to have been possible but bonkers if true.

I guess the pieces could be broken down and the metals melted and sold on, but you'd think doing over a few normal jewellers would be easier and raise far less attention.

Police à deux vitesses, volez les joyaux de la couronne et personne ne fait rien, mais dites votre français et ils vous mettent en prison
