I have a mind that races. In order to sleep I need something to stop my mind excitedly skipping from thought to thought.

Radio 4's In Our Time is perfect. Just interesting enough to keep me focused, not so interesting I stay awake. About one million episodes. Sometimes also the news.

For 15 years I have used a Pure clock radio with iPod dock. It tells me the time, wakes me up and, with an earpiece, provides live Radio 4, live World Service or the next episode of In Our Time from the iPod as required, without disturbing my wife with to much clicking and twiddling. iPod is charged when ever needed.

Clock radio has died! Gets halfway though the booting up and stops.

I need a replacement but nobody seems to make them with iPod dock. I've looked at used ones but they seem very tired.

What's the best way of recreating the old system? Would some kind of adapter work with aux on a normal clock radio? Would it charge the ipod and, ideally, allow me to control the track from the clock radio?

I can't use my phone as to much temptation to quickly investigate something my mind has leapt to.

Thanks

If you can find one then a REVO K2 will do all you need and has an iPod dock in a tray that pops out of the bottom at the front, I think they were discontinued in 2010. I have 2 of them and they still work perfectly for our needs (one in each bedroom) and have had them since 2004.
