So the Mrs. and I are off to Ljubljana on Wednesday for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Bit of a last minute thing. I have some Google Map pins for bars and restaurants. We're staying in the center and are planning to visit Lake Bled on one of the days. We'll probably just make our own way over and do our own thing rather than an organised tour. We're also thinking of a trip to Postojna Cave with an official tour and tickets operator.

Has anyone got a recommendation of who to use for the cave trip?
Are we missing a trick making our own way to Lake Bled rather than an organised tour?
What's the best way to get there and back? Train, bus, Uber., Bolt?
Any other recommendations of things to do?

We had a hire a car to go the Bled. It can get busy so better to arrive early, otherwise parking can be a challenge (we went high season, so may not be an issue in October).

Easy enough to walk around the lake and up to the castle as a circular walk. Can also hire a boat to get to the island, but we didn’t bother.

We also went independently to Postojna Caves by car (better to book tickets online beforehand). Can also get the double ticket to include Predjama castle, which is worth a visit. There is a shuttle bus between the two, but we just drove.

For Ljubljana, would recommend a walking tour (there are a few tips based options), and the river cruise is worthwhile.

Good tips. The Mrs. loves a little river cruise so that's a good option.

Depending how you are getting to Bled, we preferred Lake Bohinj, about 30 mins drive further west. There are way fewer people there so you can enjoy it more, and it's just as pretty. Bled is a bit too much of a tourist spot for me.

Ljubljana is a great city with a lovely atmosphere. Enjoy!
