Looks like its half term next week so we will take a quick trip soon after they all go back .
Retired healthy couple , about 5-7 nights , from Gatwick .

Where shall we go ? We like City breaks , nice if we did see the sun. Like to stay where there is an option for outside space. Eating out, a bit of wine, walking about ,a bit doing nothing too. Not fussed on beaches.
Not fussy usually spend about EUR150/170 a night on a Hotel . Wont hire a car just flights and a Taxi to the Hotel.

Appreciate any suggestions please as to places you have gone , it does not have to be Malaga just looked easy to fly to from Gatwick, but all of EasyJet is there .

I ask these question on here about 4 times a year , generally follow suggestions and always post back my findings afterwards

Thank you

Love Malaga, just been for four nights. Stayed here

https://maps.app.goo.gl/tZvujYk3keKJdwmd7?g_st=ipc

Nice hotel and good location. No need for taxi from airport, just jump on train (€1.8) and the 5min walk to hotel.

Loads to see, food is excellent and good value.

We also went on a trip to here https://www.caminitodelrey.info/en. Which was great but not if you have a fear of heights!!

We often have a couple at the rooftop bar where you stayed.

Also love Malaga and can really recommend the city and the surrounding area.

We did Mijas for Oct half term last year, about 30 mins outside of Malaga. Food was a little tourist prices but we found a handful of genuinely good places, and the views were great. But if just two of you Malaga is a nice place.

Beaches in that area aren't all that, if you're beach people. Apparently a couple of genuinely sandy ones that we missed, but mostly a sand/grit mix.

One word of caution - end-Oct last year they had floods and the mother and father of all thunderstorms.

The Level at Meliá Alicante

Sea views, next to the beach and marina, 5 minutes walk to the old town

Includes drinks and light meals, great restaurant in the hotel, many more nearby

Clientèle largely retired Brits, in case that’s something you’d prefer to avoid…

I think Rome should be pretty good weather - we went in February and it was decent then.

Plenty to see and 5 days allows for a relaxing time.

That said, Malaga is a pretty good place to go although maybe not for 7 days.

I love Alicante and have a place nearby, but not sure its got enough for 5 - 7 days. Valencia perhaps, and indeed Malaga, but Alicante I would say is more a 3 day place. That said, can mix it up with a quick and easy train straight from Alicante to Madrid for a few days and that has more than enough for an additional 3 - 4 days so combine coast with inner Spain.

Very easy train journey at 300km. Wine doesn't even spill aboard and you are there in no time.

Yeah, and 2 hours on the HST to Valencia, also well worth visiting.

We’re in a Melia hotel in Tenerife on half board, the ‘level’ upgrade isn’t worth it here. The breakfast and evening meal is a buffet but the foods cracking.

Weathers been crap though, cloudy all day today wife’s pulling her kite! hehe

I was in Malaga on Sunday 12th and on Friday 17th .... still mid 20's, still busy and great weather.

We're not city people and actively avoid UK cities but have grown fond of Malaga and for shorter trips, the distance from the airport is a big advantage.

Malaga & surrounding areas never appealed until we went, we've now been a few times. Actually a really nice and accessible part of the world.

We stay here (https://www.granhotelmiramarmalaga.com/en/) in Malaga, really good hotel, walking distance to everyone, and not too pricey.

But actually prefer Marbella Old Town and stay in an amazing new boutique hotel (based in a 200yr old building) - https://lafondaheritage.com/en/home/. Just stunning and amazing food, roof terrace, centre of the old town.

Malaga is my go-to for a long weekend etc. Always something new to see and do

As a side note - 15 mins from the airport is https://laconcepcion.malaga.eu/en/

Gorgeous botanical gardens.

I usually go there on the way to the airport (rental car), spend 9E getting in and having a wander for a couple of hours before going for my flight

Both places way over OPs stated budget.

On that basis, we stayed here https://www.sohohoteles.com/en/hotel-soho-boutique... which was £120-ish B&B ... 5 min walk into town. Decent sized rooms, clean and good breakfast. They also have another hotel a few hundred metres closer to town https://www.sohohoteles.com/en/hotel-soho-boutique...

If you are doing Malaga, jump on a bus or Uber and visit Nerja and Frigiliana. You won’t be disappointed.

Yes, Jardines. The all inclusive is a bit pointless as well, there’s only butties on between breakfast and dinner. I’m glad we only went for half board, it was only £200 more for the 3 of us for a week.

Weathers a bit better today.
