Wasn't quite sure where to post this query....

Just looking for some advice on the best way to register a car from an auction. The person who has bought it lives in Australia, but he wants to keep it at my house in England. He might also want me to sell if for him in the UK. What's the best thing to do with the V5?

Am I correct that he cannot be the registered keeper on the V5 as he has an Aus resident address?

In which case, are the options to keep the car "in trade" from the auction house, i.e. not register it in anyone's name, or to register it in my name?

Just trying to think through the pros and cons, so any advice appreciated.

My thinking is it's probably best to keep it in trade, send me the V5 (but not register it to me) - then I can either sell it in the UK, or send him on the V5 if he wants to ship it to Aus...?

Can you register in his name but by using your postal address as the address of the registered keeper?

Yes, I was wondering that - but not entirely sure! I suppose you could...just wasn't sure if that was "acceptable" for DVLA!
