I await the conclusion of the investigation with interest, given the level of charges for pet care now.

In my own area a couple of independent practices have opened and their charges are definitely lower.

As I understand it the problem is corporations buying up vets' practices by making them offers they can't refuse, then cranking up the prices and setting them sales targets. Bingo - prices up 30% and an extra layer of profit paid for by pet owners. It might be legal but I find it immoral.

I agree it is immoral. And I suspect that it's having a negative effect on animal welfare.

I wouldn't take my dog to the vets now for those times when you think they don't look well best take them to the vet just in case.

Last time I did that it was >£300 and I'm convinced it was just a viral bug and all the crap they gave him including super special dog food (at nearly £30 for 4 small tins) did nothing that time didn't do better.

No more pets for us after our current dog.
