Cultural vandalism & arson in the automotive industry
Discussion
We rightfully punish developers who set fire to listed buildings in the hope of getting planning permission to replace with an ugly, modern development.
We rightfully punish people who spray paint on works of art because they think that will persuade people to buy an EV and that in doing so the planet will be saved.
We rightfully look down on those who ruin rare classic cars or who chuck out rare antique furniture because it's not that valuable and binning is easier than finding a buyer for a few hundred quid.
It is bad enough the way desirable brands like BMW and Ferrari have been irreversibly tarnished by the contraints placed upon them by governments and the EU when building ICE cars. There's an argument that in the interests of heritage protection those two brands should have been told to re-brand somewhere in the 2010 to 2015 range, to preserve the value of the brands and logos and retain their links to their incredible histories.
But when you see what haas happened to MG, Jaguar or Lotus - incredible, somewhat niche brands turned into global woke jokes - it is just tragic. I would honestly advocate prison for the executives responsible.

I do wonder how long a brand that is a strong brand/nameplate, built on what it has been and done in the past, can continue to ride that success if they stop doing the things that earned them that position in the first place.
It would appear that, provided they are competent at tracking and managing general consumer tastes, the answer is "quite a long time".
I may not always like it, but I'm usually not their customer base.

Peugeot started out making pepper grinders and bicycles. Now they make cars and nobody gives a toss.We rightfully punish people who spray paint on works of art because they think that will persuade people to buy an EV and that in doing so the planet will be saved.

Are you seriously suggesting that car manufacturers should be a protected part of global culture? That companies can't evolve and change in order to survive and, ideally, thrive? You want people to go to prison for leveraging commercial advantage in running a business?
f
k me.
And using the word "woke", renders irrelevant any tiny element of sense that might be extant in your post.
Right...I honestly can't tell whether or not this is a parody of the type of post you get very often on PH which is basically an old man howling at the moon when they see that things have changed in the last 30 years. I mean, if it's serious it's quite possibly the maddest thing I've ever read on PH.

I myself drive a Tesla with a Kubelwagen engine conversion.
Does the sat-nav default the destination to Poland and all points east every time you switch the ignition on?You literally won't get in the door unless you're wearing a tie-dye dress.

Given these two that he's also posted I'd say he's deadly serious, sadly:Elsewhere OP also said:
I am constantly looking for TV shows to watch, but as it was on the BBC I googled "are there any trans characters in Riot Women" and when the answer (as I was certain it would be) was "it's the virtue signalling woketard BBC, of course it f-ing does" I decided not to bother.
AND
My ambition to never own an auto, diesel or hybrid, let alone an f-ing EV, is one of the biggest ambitions in my life, and, to be honest, it is an ambition I am willing to pay for, and I'd be looking to change my lifestyle to get the miles down before I looked to advertize what sort of a person I am by being seen in an EV.

As an old man though one not given to howling at anything I feel you last sentence is likely to be correct. CHLEMCBC said:
