Hello all

Anyone got ideas to stop people turning around in the drive ?

Not really liking manual bollards due to effort. But struggling to find battery ones anywhere as its far from the house for wiring .

Thanks

Perhaps the better question is why are so many people turning around using your drive?

And is it a problem?

I know of a wide driveway entrance that is in front of automatic gates and some distance from the house, in which there are "no turning" signs and cones. I have always wondered "why?"

The road is narrow country. You could drive for another 20 secs both ways and do it properly but most dont bother

They smash the gravel up and it keeps leaving uneven patches and mud everywhere

Near us, someone has done this - looks crap but seems to work

Otherwise its quite difficult. Highway rules usually say that if you have to stop to open a gate you have to do so off the highway, thereby creating an area that people will turn in or even park in.

How often does it happen? You've got to balance making your drive less useful with your own inconvenience dealing with the obstruction.

Hard to say. Its 50 60 feet from the closest part of the house .

Its definitely multiple times per day.

I have this problem. We live near the local primary school, and parents think it’s fine to turn round in our driveway, as well as sometimes blocking the drive as “they’re only there for a minute”.
I finally got fed up after a few oil stains appeared from one of the cars.
I found that going out and challenging them works. I got lots of pathetic justification but it hardly ever happens now, perhaps word has got around! Obviously my case is easier as it is ar certain times of day, not so easy if it can be at any time.

This would also stop OP using his own driveway.

Not allowed either if they are near the road.
