Looking at my next euro trip on rhe good old GS1300

However, my wife will by next April be retired and has suggested flying out to join me - she does do hotels, she does bars, she does restaurants but she DOESNT do bikes !
So i will ride, ferry to Santander and then make my way to ....?
I've listed rhe 3 in the title as we have good access to those airports from Newcastle.
I woukd set off a good few days ahead of her and then she woukd fly out meet me there and she would just chill for a week where as I would go out each day on my bike returning in the afternoon.
2 things
1. I've generally found the biking to be fab wherever there are large hills or mountainous regions nearby so I'm looking at it from a bikers view.
2. I'm not sure which of the 3 above is best for giving her something to do during the daytime. Nothing heavy just somewhere nice she can meander the day away.

So trying to combine 2 hols in one I suppose.
Any good quality hotel is fine so long as it has secure parking but its the area I'm really looking at for now.

Which has better riding (given it will be April) whilst still offering something pleasant for my better half.

I had a great time this year basing myself between Valencia and Tarragona with excellent mountains to play in. This year though I need to base myself relatively close to a city / town with an airport.

Any thoughts?

I'm a biker too, albeit bikes without engines.

I do ride a lot in Spain. The area around Malaga is really good, and if you stay in either Malaga or Marbella old town, there is loads to do.

I also love north of Barcelona, especially Girona. Beautiful old town, great bars & restaurants from triple Michelin starred down, and some amazing roads, mountains, Volcanos, old medieval villages, coast 60km away.

I've just posted the below having got back from there last week on my bike:

Just back from a week in Girona. Still my favourite European cycling destination for riding and after-ride sustenance wink

Lucked out with the weather, stayed dry despite forecasts of rain even had 3 really sunny days.
