When I was a nipper I had a Scalextric set with a pair of Porsche 911 Turbos (silver and gold) and I always liked the shape of them. Started collecting Porsche dinky cars too and the only car poster I ever had on my wall was a 911 Turbo.

Bought my first Porsche ( Boxster 986 2.7] about 20 years ago (I’m 56 now), loved how it drove and added a 911 997 about 10 years ago.

Retired the Boxster 3 years ago and bought a mint sapphire blue 981 Boxster GTS, and last year got a Macan Turbo PP to use as a daily.

So that was me sorted for the foreseeable, right? Nah.

I still kept an eye on 991 Turbo S cabs in the classifieds but the problem was they were mostly in black, white or grey, and I firmly believe sports cars should be in bright colours, and besides I couldn’t really justify spending circa 100k on a *wifequote* “tin box with 4 wheels.”

But about 6 weeks ago this popped up and we loved the colour and interior, so I contacted Porsche Solihull and over a few days we did the deal with the Boxster GTS as a trade in. Got about 8k off, although I’d honestly have paid list as it’s probably a 1 of 1 car, and loaded with just about everything in extras, including colour matched keys (£390 option eek).

Picked it up a month ago, done 800 miles in it and I’m smitten; it’s ludicrously quick but very planted, but so compliant pootling around town.

So here it is: 27k, Mexico Blue PTS, espresso and cognac extended leather, and just about every other box ticked.

Beautiful! Love mine but it’s in boring black.

The every day, mega fast cruise missile.

They really are a do everything car. I m a bit north of you in Lancashire and a couple of weeks ago one sunny afternoon we did 130 very fast miles on the twisty but fast roads north of us, then the missus picked our granddaughters up from school with the top down, which they both loved.

What a spec!!!

Too bad these cars tend to be very basic specs. So many things to choose from yet they are all basically the same mostly!

Ye that’s a lovely spec, the turbo S does seem to be black on black majority, can’t be many, if any, others in this spec.

Lovely car and I agree that sports cars should be in bright colours. Here I am at Calais Shuttle last weekend, waiting to return to the UK. Two other random Porsche owners parked at the terminal waiting to get home. Everything else was black, white or grey!

That’s ace. Far more interesting than a non colour.
Mexican looks very similar to Miami Blue?

Thanks for the comments, all.

Lunar, absolutely love the colour combo of yours.

Andy, I believe that Miami is a tad lighter.

One thing that’s always puzzled me is that the Turbo S has never been really been regarded as a supercar, which I find a bit odd given that it’s as quick or quicker than pretty much anything Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren have to offer.

Has the hive mind of the forum any theories why this is?

Depends who you ask. To me, it's absolutely a supercar.

I think for some people successful, usable, practical, reliable, less than 8 cylinders =/= supercar

They are wrong
