Thank you but the thing shattered into pieces so it has to be a completely new unit
Ah, OK, you are not in the "overhaul" area!I started on the 'search breakers' route - and when I discovered the overhaul option was slightly cheaper than TVRGlen, I went the overhaul route.
My concern was that a breaker's part was an unknown quantity, likely still have to do an overhaul?
Good luck. Nick.
The 090 3015 are the important numbers. The alternative part numbers are 20 03015 or A10 3015. What you are looking for is a 12V 100 mm clutch diameter 5 groove clutch compressor that uses PAG 46 oil.
This company claims to have one albeit in the USA. Whether they actually do is another matter.

I think that it may have been used on an Aston Martin Virage between 1992 and 6. There is one on ebay, albeit also in the USA

It may be worth speaking to a AM specialist and confirming if the 090 3015 was used and what they use as an alternative. Someone like Aston Engineering might be able to help.

interesting... I wonder if there needs to be an amount of oil that runs in the same pipework as the refrigerant? (this is how a lot of heat pumps work)
If the system was rebuilt without oil perhaps that led to the failure. Does anyone know how the compressor on the AC is lubricated?
Its important to know for your rebuild

With PAG46 oil that you put in on the low pressure side of the system before the refrigerant. Only normally necessary when the compressor has been rebuilt, not normally done just for an A/C recharge.
I doubt it has been rebuilt and it exploded from too little or too much oil. Have you seen the size of the compressors from the 1980s, 90s. They were huge, robust things, designed for huge American cars. It won't have done much work in a TVR. Generally a fraction of the mileage that a USA car does and yes TVR's get hot, but the cabin is small and the UK summer weather is nothing like some of the USA states.
