Just wandering what people think of this, if its bang on the money or off what it should be?
Right, spec of machine:
Intel P4 3.2ghz LGA
Colors IT 550watt PSU
Intel 925xbc micro-atx motherboard
4GB Corsair DDR2 XMMSS2
800GB - 4x200gb Barracudas running Intel Raid
ATI X850Pro 256MB (Club3D)
Watercooled CPU and GPU (GPU block is a Koolance 24k gold jobbie)
Graphics card overclocked to:
580 Core / 600 mem
Stable as shit, 48degrees at full blat/ 38degrees idle
Results were: 5693
I havent tried clocking it higher, but I know I can take the core up to 650 easily.

Ash, I have some new copies of windows XP 64 bit edition here. I presume that build and stepping code was EMT64 capable.
I would be very interested if you could run the same benchmark test on both 32Bit, and 64bit. OS
Primarily interested as I used to run very expensive Silicon Graphics workstations, and servers. I have just migrated to windoze from UNIX
www.sgi.com
By the way: what is it used for?

Oh, dear, you poor thing. Still, I expect you'll get used to uptimes about 10% of those you're used to, regular reinstalls and an "operating system" that consumes about 80% of the performance of the machine it's running on.
Eventually.

This old chesnut again... I'm no windows fan, but I do run a mixture of Windows, Linux and Solaris servers, and the uptimes on them all are broadly similar. Longest times between reboots are just over a year for each of my servers, and even then it was enforced not required.
There is no reason why a windows machine cannot be as reliable as a 'nix machine. For me the compelling argument for any unix system is that on like for like hardware filesystem performance on Linux kicks the crap out of windows.
Thread hijack over....

In my spare time I do a bit of F1 racing at 160fps, thats pretty much it apart from browsing the net... overkill? you got it.... thats me all over...
I often wonder at what point you can't appreciate a frame rate difference. I would guess anything over 60fps becomes just bragging rights?
For what it's worth my SLI system is used mainly for web browsing and a bit of gaming, so like you overkill could be the best description!

Sadly, this is untrue, and unfixable. Too much Windows software requires the equivalent of root access for Windows ever to be as reliable as Unix. Too much of Windows runs in Ring0 (i.e. in kernel mode) for Windows to be reliable. It should never be possible for a user to crash a system, and yet this is an everyday occurence in Windows.
I did a dealing room "upgrade" a few years ago where we went from X-Terminals on AIX to Windows NT machines, and the support staff went from half a person to 5, in order to provide the same level of support.
Nothing will ever convince me that Windows is as reliable as a properly designed O/S - I have seen the evidence with my own eyes - and managed the staff required!

XP is Windows NT V6. The fundamental problems of insufficient separation of user and system spaces has not been addressed - like I said, it is unfixable without substantial redesign. And until it is fixed the problems with unreliability, spyware, viruses and zombie hosts can only be papered over, not fixed.
(Oh, and BTW, I never mentioned Linux. And my apologies for the thread hijack. I'll shut up now, unless provoked.)
If you wanted to built a leading operating system that caters for the needs of all its users it wouldnt be Windows, if you wanted to a create a market leading operating system it probably would be.
Therein lies the core difference between Windows and just about everything else.
Its a pain in the arse at a deeply technical level but, and thats the crucial bit, by design.

That's enouraging, Deadlock, because I have an X2 4400 too. Looks as if I have some tweaking to do!
Then I'd say something's not right, because stock I was getting easy post 11s.
Though my cards are factory-OCed XFX - are your cards standard 430MHz babies?
